Hello from the WITS Management Team and Welcome to the new WITS website.

Having recently completed a major upgrade of the old site, we are steadily reviewing and updating our content. We hope the new site structure will make it much easier to provide you with up-to-date information and make it simpler to access essential information. We hope you like it.

Malcolm Tyler, Chairman of the WITS management team.

Our Aims:

The WITS initiative was founded in 2003, partly to answer the call for greater efficiency within the water industry. Recognising that that most Water Management Organisations (WMOs) had been through many years of internal reorganisations and efficiency drives, each providing diminishing returns, we realised that there remained a rich, previously untapped, seam of benefits to be found in WMO partnership working.

By finding ways to encourage inter-company working and partnershipping we have been able to draw together a very large community of managers and engineers from all around the UK to help improve the development of telemetry for the future.

With any project relevant to the water industry being eligible, we are able to deliver mutual benefit by pooling knowledge and resources, sharing costs and minimising investment capital and risk.

This is best summed up in our vision statement:

"To harness the combined strengths of knowledge, skills and influence of the water industry, taking responsibility for the continuous improvement of telemetry technology and service, through shared developments on behalf of the UK Water Management Organisations"

Some 4 years on WITS has grown to represent some 31 Water Management Organisations throughout the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands. We currently have 21 of our WMO members directly contributing to our first major project, supported by 6 major water industry vendor investors who currently supply over 80% of UK-based systems and equipment.

Our first project is: THE WITS-DNP3 PROTOCOL STANDARDS PROJECT
